We require that homework is returned for marking the day before your child’s session to ensure sufficient time for the tutor to review the work. The tutor will review your child’s work and feedback if necessary at the start of their following lesson. If there is anything notable to comment on, the tutor will also send you a message after the session.

It is much simpler than most parents expect! Tutoring runs on our Primary Tutor Project platform where each lesson has an easy link to bring you directly to the lesson. The tutor will use various features on the video call to create an interactive, engaging learning environment. For example, your child will be able to draw and write on the screen, play interactive games and see lesson content in real time.

All of our Tuition Clubs are one hour in duration, with a 5 minute break in the middle for our youngest learners.

1:1 sessions can be 1 hour, 45 minutes or 30 minutes depending on the child, their age and their needs.

Yes! We recommend you check out our Tuition Clubs for siblings and friends. If you have two or more students who are of similar ability and you wish for them to have a private lesson, please let us know via our contact form and we create a bespoke package for them.

The usual schedule does not apply to the holidays; however, holiday sessions may be available upon request and depending on your tutors availability. Parents often choose to have some holiday sessions to ensure their children retain knowledge from the previous term.

Homework is available on request. We understand that many families prefer not to add extra work outside of lessons, especially when children are involved in other activities. However, a short follow-up task can often help reinforce what was covered in the session. All of our Tuition Clubs include printable workbooks, and optional homework is set each week using these resources.

In 1:1 sessions, learning is fully tailored to your child’s individual progress and goals, usually aligned with the British curriculum. Tuition Clubs follow a more structured approach, based on key topics from the British curriculum for each age group. In both cases, you’ll receive a feedback message after each session via the platform (you’ll get an email notification when it’s ready to view!).

Tuition fees are paid by card at the time of booking, in half-termly blocks. If you prefer, you can book and pay for the full term or even the entire year in advance by purchasing each half-term block upfront. We’ll send reminder emails each half term to prompt you to rebook lessons for the upcoming block.

Tutors will remain online for the duration of your lesson so join as soon as you can. Lessons will end at the scheduled time with no refund of fees.

Yes, you can. In line with consumer protection laws, you have the right to request a refund within 14 days of your purchase - this is helpful if you accidentally booked the wrong slot. However, once tuition has started and lessons have been delivered, payment is due for the sessions you have used.

If you decide to stop tuition for any reason, you can simply finish the current block without rebooking further lessons. We kindly ask that you inform us if you plan to discontinue, so we can offer your place to someone on our waiting list.

To begin, register using your email address and verify your account by clicking the confirmation link sent to your inbox. Once verified, log in and complete your profile by adding details such as a profile picture, phone number, country, and time zone. After setting up your profile, you can start exploring our range of tuition clubs and 1:1 tutors to find the right match for your learning needs.

Both Tuition Clubs and 1:1 lessons are booked in half-termly blocks. Once a block is booked, lessons are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled.

If your child is enrolled in a Tuition Club and misses a session, they will have access to a lesson recording to watch before the next session. This helps ensure all students stay on track and progress through the course content together.

If your child has 1:1 lessons and needs to miss a session, it can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. Simply click the “Reschedule” button on the lesson and choose from your tutor’s available slots. Please note that the rescheduled lesson must take place within the same term. If it is under 24-hours before the class takes place, it cannot be cancelled, so the lesson will be forfeited.

You set your own availability! This is one of the great benefits of being a Primary Tutor Project tutor. You can choose the hours that fit best with your schedule, whether that's a few hours a week or more. Just update your schedule and you're good to go!

As our name suggests, we primarily focus on primary school-aged children, typically from Reception to Year 6.

We offer competitive rates of pay, which will be discussed during the application process. Payment is made regularly, usually on a weekly basis.

If you have a strong connection and are still experiencing delays, try using the CoBrowser feature instead of screen sharing. This feature is often more responsive for delivering content, such as Google Slides or websites.

While Lessonspace has built-in troubleshooting alerts, some issues—such as a user accidentally muting their device via an external switch—may not be detected by the system. If this happens, always double-check all external controls on the device itself. Using headphones can often improve audio quality and stability.

Strict firewalls and network restrictions in schools or offices can sometimes block Lessonspace from connecting properly. Please provide this guide to your IT administrator to ensure the necessary domains are allowed.

Before a lesson starts, we recommend taking these steps to ensure a smooth experience:

Use a wired connection: A wired Ethernet connection is more stable than Wi-Fi.

Stay close to your router: If a wired connection is not possible, ensure you are close to your Wi-Fi router.

Close other applications: Close any unnecessary browser tabs, streaming services (e.g., Netflix, YouTube), or other video-conferencing applications (e.g., Zoom, Skype) to free up bandwidth.

Enable Hardware Acceleration: This setting allows your computer's graphics card to handle video-intensive tasks, reducing the load on your CPU. To enable this in Chrome, go to Settings > System and turn on Use graphics acceleration when available.

For a stable session, we recommend a minimum internet speed of 5 Mb/s download and 3 Mb/s upload. If you plan to use screen sharing, an upload speed of at least 4 Mb/s is recommended. If you are facing issues you can quickly check your speed by searching "Internet speed test" on Google. Please take a screenshot of this and share it with the Primary Tutor Project team.

Check your internet connection: A slow or unstable internet connection can lead to performance issues. Try to connect to a more stable network if possible.

Close other applications: Close any other video-conferencing or resource-intensive applications like Skype, Zoom, or other streaming services.

Allow camera and microphone access: In your browser, check the site permissions and ensure that Lessonspace has permission to use your camera and microphone.

Check operating system privacy settings: On macOS, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and make sure that your browser is allowed to access your camera and microphone

Check the Troubleshooting menu: Look for the "Troubleshooting" menu within the Lessonspace Space for prompts about issues with your video or audio.

Use the Device Setup menu: Go to the Device Setup menu within the Space and ensure that the correct microphone and camera are selected. If you have multiple webcams, select the correct one.

Reload and rejoin the Space: Try reloading the page and joining the Space again after making changes to your settings.

Try a different device: If possible, test Lessonspace on a different device to see if the issue is specific to your current computer.

Contact support: If the problem continues, you can report the issue directly from within the Space by going to Setup > Report an issue and providing details about the problem.
